Word has an option to include common fonts in a PDF or not but otherwise font information is included. PDF files (that Microsoft Word can create) have font embedding automatically. Those limits aren’t clearly displayed in Windows nor Office but are enforced.Ī font can be restricted and font embedding isn’t available. Purchased fonts have licence restrictions on how they are used and shared. Font Licencingįont embedding isn’t always available. If the document is edited elsewhere to include characters not in the limited embedded font, the extra characters won’t display properly. The ‘characters only’ option does make the document file smaller, but it also reduces compatibility for the document receivers. Any changes to the text will appear in the correct font.

Then you can name your preferred font set before clicking Save. Just use the drop-down for each to find a font more to your liking. This is where you set the two Styles I told you about earlier, +Body and +Headings, which in turn control basic settings for many of the other Styles in a Word document. On the left, you’ll see Heading font and Body font. That’s going to take you into the Create New Theme Fonts dialog box. From here, you want to choose Customize Fonts. Clicking on Fonts will give you a list of preconfigured font sets. Over on the far right is a drop-down called Fonts. I see several comments saying how to do this for Word 2013 but none for the latest version on the Mac. So that those I send it to can view the document as I've designed I understand I need to embed the fonts in the document. One of the most persistent frustrations legal users have with Microsoft Word fonts is the default font settings.
